Special Friends Ministry

During the Special Friends Ministry you dedicate one hour a week to share your time and talents with an "at risk" child. This time can brighten your day and bring a smile to your "special friend's" face. Join hands in partnership with Southern Pines Primary School and Southern Pines Elementary School to meet the Methodist Church's challenge to help children in poverty.

Possible volunteer opportunities include:

        Tutoring - reading, writing or math

        Being a lunch buddy

        Remembering the student's birthday

        Sending cards or favors on holidays

        Attending special events

        Getting together with "special friends" at church

        Going on field trips with the child

        Helping in the media center

        Being a guest speaker

       Assisting with English as a Second Language.
