The foundational beliefs for us at Southern Pines UMC are recorded in the Apostles' Creed (written below), which we regularly recite during worship services.  The Apostles' Creed not only reminds us of what we believe, but it also links us to other United Methodists and Christians all around the world who hold the same tenants of faith that are affirmed each time we unify in proclaiming these special words.  If you have unanswered questions about what we at Southern Pines UMC believe, please contact a minister who will be happy to meet with you to discuss your questions.

​ The Apostles' Creed, Traditional Version

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

   maker of heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord: 

   who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

      born of the Virgin Mary,

      suffered under Pontius Pilate,

      was crucified, died, and was buried;*

   the third day he rose from the dead;

   he ascended into heaven,

      and stitch at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

   from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

   the holy catholic** church,

   the communion of saints,

   the forgiveness of sins,

   the resurrection of the body,

   and the life everlasting.  Amen.
